We just got back from spring break, and I had a great week off spending time with family and friends. To start my spring break off, I left school on Thursday night and flew to New York, where I met up with my parents and sister who got there a few days before me. I was in New York for the first weekend of my break and had so much fun. My family and I explored NYC, ate good food, shopped, and saw a Broadway show. We saw MJ on Broadway, which was a play all about Michael Jackson and his career. It was amazing, with great acting, dancing, and singing. This was a fun weekend spent with my family and was a great start to spring break. On Monday we left New York and flew home to Georgia. I spent the rest of the week relaxing and hanging out with some of my hometown friends. The weather was not as warm as I hoped it would have been, but I still made the best of it. On Friday, it was St. Patrick’s Day and my moms birthday, so we celebrated both at a St. Patty’s party in the city! On the second weekend of spring break, I got to hang out at the lake near my house with all my friends. Spring break has made me want summer to come even faster. This spring break was relaxing and very much needed. It was a week full of family time, friends, and fun. Although break is sadly over, I am excited to finish these last few weeks of school before summer break.

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. Every Thanksgiving for as long as I can remember, my family and I all pile up into one big car and travel down to Louisiana to see my dad’s side of the family. I am always so happy to get to see all my cousins, who I only get to see a few times a year! On Thanksgiving morning we all wake up early to start cooking. Everyone in the house helps out with something, whether that be prepping the turkey with my uncle, prepping the stuffing, making a pie, stirring the gravy, or setting the table. After prepping the food and putting the turkey in the oven, the rest of the afternoon we watch football, hang outside, and catch up with each other as we wait for dinner to cook. When dinner is ready we stuff our faces with turkey, green beans, hawaiian rolls, and mash potatoes. Thanksgiving is one of my favorites, because it includes all my favorite foods. After dinner we head out for a walk around the neighborhood, throwing the football, talking, and walking off all the food we just ate. When we get back home everyone loves to eat my favorite dessert, pumpkin pie. When everyones done eating, we always find a good movie to watch together, to end the night. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays because of the traditions that my family and I have made and the traditions that will last even after me.

Summer is my favorite time of year. I thrive in warm weather and love being outside to enjoy it. Summers in Georgia are hot, so I spend most of my days at the pool or lake with friends and family. Summer weather in Georgia is normally between 90 to 100 degrees everyday, so the lake is always a nice way to cool off. The lake is full of years of summer memories for me, from fourth of July parties, sunset cruises, late night bonfires, and so much more. I practically live at the lake during the summer. My friends and I love boating, tanning, floating in the water, and so much more. One of my favorite parts of summer is our fourth of July party. Every year, we host a party at the lake on the 4th and all of our friends, family, and neighbors come over. We grill burgers, listen to music, swim in the lake, and enjoy each other’s company. This is always my favorite day of the year. Everyone is so happy and having a good time. Another tradition I love during the summer is most Sundays we go out for a sunset cruise, before dinner. My mom makes appetizers and drinks for the boat ride. We drive around the lake watching the sunset, and talking about our weeks. The lake is a place that will always hold a special place in my heart, and there are many traditions that I hope continue within my family forever.
