First Semester at UD

The first time I stepped on Dayton’s campus, this school felt like home. Dayton is eight hours away from home, my family, my friends, my dog, and everything that I’ve known for the last 18 years of my life. Although I was thrilled for Dayton, that didn’t keep my anxious and nervous feeling away about the change I was going to experience in the upcoming school year. This started to hit me even harder as the days became closer and closer to move in day. When the day finally came around, I found my room and carried my stuff up, and started moving into my new home. After getting settled in, meeting my roommate, and others on my floor I knew I was happy I picked Dayton. I felt the love and support of the community from the second I stepped foot on campus. I got involved with new clubs, which led me to new opportunities, and new friends. I joined clubs and organizations that interested and challenged me, as well as pushed me out of my comfort zone. I got involved with clubs such as Christmas on Campus and Special Wish club, which were both involved in volunteering time with kids. Picking UD as my home for the next four years was the best decision I made, and has allowed me to grow and learn new things. Although I was nervous in the beginning, UD has brought amazing new people into your life, new opportunities, and allowed you to get out of your comfort zone.
